A Heartwarming Visit to the Orphanage

Being a volunteer in the organization formed by the youths of our society, I was excited for our new task which is to visit an orphanage. We arrived at the spot after 2 hours of traveling by bus. The region was separated from the thickly populated metropolitan regions and was encircled by farmland. As we entered through the gate, we saw children peeping out of the window and waving hands to us.

At first, we thought that kids might be hesitant to face us, however, it was the opposite.

They shared their stories, funny anecdotes, and daily routines. It doesn’t appear as though we were meeting for the first time as every one of them was so friendly and warm-hearted. We played, sang, and danced till it was time for them to eat. Their joy has no limits when we gifted them clothes, toffees, study materials, and sports items. One child kept on holding my hand as if she needed an assurance that I wouldn’t leave.

Though fate has shown no mercy upon these children, their hearts are loaded with love and compassion.

As we were about to leave, we noticed the sad faces of the kids.

In their bleak world, this little happiness holds great value for them. They have taught me the importance of valuing one’s relationship with loved ones and enjoying those little moments with gratitude.
